BIOGRAPHY
Gian Marco Schiaretti was born on November 25, 1986, in the small Italian town of Felino, near Parma. From an early age, he was passionate about singing, drama, and music, with a particular love for classical composers such as Verdi, Puccini, and Mozart.
At the age of 15, Gian Marco saw Riccardo Cocciante’s musical Notre Dame de Paris for the first time, followed by Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera. It was love at first sight!
At 17, he took on the role of Mercutio in the renowned opera Giulietta e Romeo, composed by Riccardo Cocciante. He performed across Italy, including ten shows at the prestigious Arena di Verona.
In 2011, he joined Maestro Cocciante for the Cocciante canta Cocciante concert series, which took place in Verona, Rome, Taormina, Geneva, and Shanghai during the Universal Expo.
By 2013, Disney Broadway and Stage Entertainment cast him as Tarzan in the musical of the same name, featuring music by Phil Collins. He played the lead role for over three and a half years at Hamburg’s Neue Flora and Stuttgart’s Apollo Theater, delivering nearly 1,000 performances.
In 2016, he relocated to London and was chosen to portray Che in Evita (A.L. Webber, directed by B. Kenwright and Bob Thomson). The production toured the UK, Germany, and Dubai, and also had a run in London’s West End. In 2018, he reprised the role at the Teatro Regio in Turin, marking the first-ever performance of Evita with a full symphony orchestra.
In 2017, Gian Marco was invited as a special guest at the Magic at the Musical concert at the Royal Albert Hall.
In August 2018, he stepped into the role of Bernardo in West Side Story at the BBC Proms, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
From the summer of 2019, he starred as AJ Golden in Cirque du Soleil’s first-ever musical, Paramour, in Hamburg, a Stage Entertainment production. At the same time, he also played Phoebus during the international tour of Notre Dame de Paris.
Since 2021, Gian Marco has portrayed the title character in Don Juan, an international musical by Félix Gray, directed by Gilles Maheu.
In 2022, he took on the role of Casanova in Casanova Opera Pop, a production by Red Canzian that toured both in Italy and internationally.
Also in 2022, he began playing Le Duc de Monroth in Moulin Rouge! Das Musical, the European German premiere of the show.
Starting in 2022, Gian Marco had the opportunity to embody Gringoire in the international tour of Notre Dame de Paris, as well as in special anniversary productions in Paris and other French cities throughout 2023 and 2024.
In 2023, he released his first single Le Même Dilemme.
